Useful links...

Often the I Ching is attributed magical qualities, able to predict the future, and almost always bracketed together with the Tarot.
Better see our page "About I Ching" or our page with books about the I Ching.
There is a lot one can find out about I Ching on the internet.

It is really hard to find honest information about the I Ching.

Knowing the limitations of a "democratic" medium as Wikipedia, the information offered on I Ching here is very useful, but not suitable for beginners on the subject.

 I Ching 2013

Yi Jing Studies Foundation

--+--+--+--

The fifth anniversary of the "Dutch National I Ching Symposium" was on Saturday, September 21th 2013.

Theme for this year was "Crisis, Strength and Change", and this time the Besant Hall in the Theosophical Centre in Naarden was chosen as location.
Bert Mulder opened with an impressive lecture on "Crisis", in which he refered to the I Ching as oldest digital system in the world, that long before the introduction of modern computer already was based on a representation of reality in zeros and ones.
He exemplified trends in society with striking examples and investigated the role that the I Ching might play as a new way of thinking.

And as every year, in the rest of the broad supply of interesting lectures and workshops there was something for everyone.

I Tjing Symposium 2012

The fourth "Dutch National I Ching Symposium", on Saturday October 6th was again in the village of Soest.
This year too, the lectures were very interesting, and in the cinema a documentary "Wisdom of Changes" was presented, about the life of Richard Wilhelm, produced by his granddaughter Bettina Wilhelm in 2011.
The new chairman of the Dutch I Ching Studies Foundation, Paul Lem, presented the new board.
I Ching outstanding authority Harmen Mesker concluded his lecture "The Meaning of Offering in the I Ching" with a genuinely valuable suggestion:
"If before consulting the I Ching, you make a sacrifice (and then truely), the answer will grow significantly in meaningfullness.
We get so much from the I Ching, but what do we actually give back in return?"

I Ching 2012

Perhaps you found this site in your search for information on I Ching predictions for the year 2012, when the Maya calendar, as well as the I Ching, are believed to agree on the Apocalyps of the world on December 21th.
At IChingOnline.net, it is our profound conviction that the future is essentially unpredictable, simply because there are too many factors involved (and that the I Ching was never meant, and can never be used to make predictions).
Nevertheless, the orbits of celestial bodies can be calculated with extreme precision, because here (almost) all factors are known.
However, read the excellent site Exit Mundi with an overwhelming collection of end-of-world scenarios, and discover that the Maya's actually never even foretold anything concrete about 2012.
So don't worry; it's just one of the countless end-of-world stories going around.

Meanwhile the date in question has passed, and indeed, the damage might have been worse.
So, prepare for the next Apocalypse!
According toExit Mundi this will be in 2020.
